WIRE โ€” By Jimmy Chazama: Celebrated musician Patience Namadingo has joined several players in the country to help desperate Malawians who are stuck in South Africa following violent attacks on both documented and undocumented foreign nationals. The singer and guitarist, who is in South Africa, yesterday lamented the pathetic state that Malawians are into at a camp in Durban as they seek to return home. This is ahead of today's March and March demonstrations. He has since created a fund that is targeting to raise K1 billion which has seen him donating K2 million. "I ask everyone to donate towards the cause to alleviate this plight. Once we put all the money together, we will later give it to Mr Onjezani Kenani, who we believe is the right person to handle it better," the award winning musician famed for the hit 'Tuli', said. Namadingo hailed all stakeholders including the government who are working day and night to assist the desperate Malawians. The artist, who has initiated several initiatives in the past years, said he will remain on the ground to help monitor the situation. Namadingo's initiative comes as other artists have also come out to offer their support and they include Kell Kay, who has offered K5 million. "I am giving an additional K5 million to help transport our people back home to the warm heart," the 'Mr Yesu' star said. Musician Loiso has also joined the effort, announcing a donation of K1 million, part of his performance fee, to support repatriation. Meanwhile, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned against the protests, stressing that his government will not allow anarchy.
